Simply Celebrate Life!

Gift Wrapping Party

Get wrapped in the season with family and friends.

Finding time to do just about anything during the holiday season can be hard. Even though you have 100 things on your list to get done before Christmas, sometimes you just want to relax and simply enjoy the true meaning of the season! Well, we thought this was the perfect party to relax with some family and friends AND if inspired, get all those presents wrapped and under the tree!

Centerpiece

Center with Food

No hard work involved- just fun food! That was it for our center of attraction!  Again, I love the fact that centerpieces can be used at the party. In this case, they were delicious. Use your dessert as a centerpiece! Desserts are most often hidden out of site and out of the way when dinner begins, so why not highlight your delicious last course and give your guests something to look forward to. Here we made cupcakes using red cupcake holders and mini red bows to tie in with our gift wrapping party! A red velvet cake recipe perfectly brought in our red and white themed colors.

Use what you have

Don’t have a cupcake holder? No worries we didn’t either. Here we used two different sized cake pedestals, a salad plate and dessert dish, layering each one and creating the perfect cupcake display for our party.

Have a ball

Ball ornaments are no longer limited to just decorating your trees. They can be used in so many creative ways and not just for Christmas either. Here we used two large red ornament balls placed on top of candy filled flute glasses. White faux fur was wrapped on the top edge of glass to give a jolly Santa feel. Simple yet special!

Table Setting

Simple is more

No plans for hard work on this party! We kept it simple yet it all turned out SENSATIONAL! A gift wrapping party can bring in an overwhelming load of colors. So we chose to keep our colors simple. Keeping with our party theme, we chose to use red ribbon crossed and draped over a white table cloth. Curled red ribbon added some fun flair throughout our table.

Our simple everyday white china was enhanced with a red charger and red napkin folded, tied and topped with a white bow.

Drink with Style

Don’t forget about those drinking glasses. Add some themed flair. Here we used a mini red ornament ball with some faux fur. Add a gift tag to personalize each glass.

Wrapping those Presents

Here is where that gift wrapping chore becomes FUN! Invite your guests to bring over their gift wrapping supplies and ideas! Before you know it, your selection will be great and your presents will be beautifully wrapped in no time! Make sure to have plenty of scissors, tape, and maybe even some fun bows and ribbons to make your gifts even more special

Card Making Station

Maybe your guests will prefer making a few unique holiday cards. Have an area where your guests can share their scrapbooking ideas on creating the perfect greeting card or gift tag. Let the creativity run wild with just a few simple tools … Consider providing some Cardstock, Stamps and Ink Pads, Decorative Scissors or Paper Punches, markers, and any other fun embellishments.

Food Menu

Appetizers are a great menu for this party but a fully planned dinner can do just as well. We chose some tasty appetizers and drinks for this fun filled day. We had some fun choosing “wrapped” dishes to share with our guests. Here are a few favorites!

Bacon Wrapped Asparagus

South Western Egg Rolls

These are one of my favorite appetizers at Chili’s. Heidi ventured into the copycat recipe world and found this one years ago. It’s become a family favorite!

Cook chicken and set aside. Saute 2 tablespoons each of red pepper and green onions for a few minutes. Dice cooked chicken and return add to pan.

Add to pan:

1/4 cup black beans

2 tablespoons frozen spinach

2 tablespoon diced jalapeno pepper. 1/2 tablespoon parsely,

1/2 teaspoon cumin

1/4 teaspoon salt

Dash of cayenne pepper

Cook for about 4 – 5 minutes.Remove from heat and add 3/4 cup jack cheese. Mix until completely melted. Wrap mixture into egg rolls an deep fry until lightly browned. Serve with an avocado dipping sauce

Avocado Dipping Sauce

Mix the following ingredients together.

1/4 cup smashed avocado

1/4 cup mayonnaise

1/4 cup sour cream
