Sweet Thanks

Sweet Thanks

A sweet way to say Thank You.

Sweet Thanks

This time of year is a time for giving thanks. My family decided to take the time to thank our awesome neighbors! We live in a neighborhood where we can literally say we know everyone on the block and I am so grateful for knowing each family personally and we hope to get to know them even more through the years. We thought a simple plate of baked cookies would be nice but my mind began to race when I was looking through my recipe book and found an old magazine cut out of a home made cookie wreath! We had so much fun making these as a family. They turned out super cute! So whether you want to make a BIG wreath for your next party or a mini one for someone special, take the time to say thanks in a super SWEET way in just three steps!

#1 Sugar Cookie Recipe

This is my favorite sugar cookie recipe and I think I got it long ago from Heidi’s stash. It’s worth trying!

Sugar Cookies

3 1/2 cups flour

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp baking powder

1 cup butter

1 1/2 cups white sugar

2 large eggs

2 tsp vanilla

Preheat oven to 350. Combine and whisk flour, salt and baking powder and set aside. In a separate bowl beat sugar and eggs until fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla, add flour mixture and mix until a smooth dough forms. Divide in 1/2 , place in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Roll out dough and cut out desired shapes. Place on a greased cookie sheet and refrigerate 10 minutes (this helps the cookie to keep it’s shape). Bake 10 minutes.

(We used cocoa powder to make different shades of browns for our leaves, or you can even use cinnamon for another shade of brown and flavor)

Royal Frosting

2 egg whites

2 tsp lemon juice

3 cups powdered sugar

Beat egg whites and lemon juice together. Add powdered sugar and beat until smooth. Use immediately or store in airtight container.

#2 Wreath it up

Caitlyn used frosting to hold them together on a mini size paper plate.

#3 Delivery Made Special

We added a few mini chocolate chips, raffia and a short but sweet note!

The Best Treat…..

……Caitlyn !

Happy Thanksgiving!
