Patriotic Breakfast

An easy early morning party starter!

Patriotic Breakfast

This is one of my favorite table settings. Why? Well, even though our family loves to be patriotic and show our support, this was probably the easiest and fastest fun breakfast party I put together! I love when things fall into place, and when a simple idea becomes a real life saver for relaxation and enjoyment on a hectic holiday! Planning and preparing everything the night before can really make your busy day more enjoyable!

Table Setting

Using fun paper plates to brighten up your table means less clean up and more time for you to relax on this busy festive day! I mixed and matched paper plates and napkins. I also added some flare to my ordinary paper cups with a few star cutouts!

Treat Bags….filled with a little red, white, and blue fun!

I thought these treat bags would be a great way to get everyone in the spirit and remember what this holiday is all about! So I took a trip to the store and picked up a few patriotic items like necklaces, bracelets, horns, stickers..the list can go on! It’s a great way for your kids or guest to show their patriotism throughout the day!

Shooting Star Center Piece

I’m a big fan of edible center pieces or decor! Knowing that you can put your center piece to good use makes ideas like this a lot more fun and practical! I’ve seen this idea around lately. The one that caught my eye was a commercial about giving a fruit bouquet to a loved one rather than flowers. What a great idea and I used it for my centerpiece! It can be made the day before by using a star shaped cookie cutter and a few wooden skewers. All you have to do in the morning is place your watermelon stars in a vase and you’re ready to go!

Fun Breakfast Meals

When you’re already planning an all out American BBQ for lunch, who wants to even worry about making breakfast! Instead of cold cereal, try preparing breakfast the night before. Your morning will run so much smoother!

Caramel French Toast Casserole

When mornings are going to be busy, we make this yummy dish all the time! It’s easy, fast and a great morning treat!

1 loaf french bread (13-16 oz)

8 eggs

2 cups half & half

1 cup milk

2 tsp sugar

1 tsp vanilla

1/2 tsp cinnamon and nutmeg

sat and pepper to taste

Slice bread into 20 slices about 1 inch thick. Arrange in buttered 9×13 dish, overlapping slices. In a bowl combine eggs, half & half, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Beat until well blended but not too bubbly. Pour over bread slices making sure all is covered evenly. Cover with foil and refrigerate over night.

Next morning, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spread Praline topping (recipe below) over bread and bake for 40 minutes until puffed and lightly golden.

Praline topping

2 sticks butter

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup chopped pecans

2 tbsp light corn syrup

1/2 tsp cinnamon and nutmeg

(Combine and mix well)

All in One Breakfast Casserole

Here’s another dish that can be made early and stored in your fridge overnight for a wholesome morning meal!

Blueberry Muffins….and some Berry Fun!

Maybe you’re thinking of a lighter breakfast, and want to leave room for your fabulous BBQ! Make muffins the night before, and simply serve a bowl of sweet berries!

Fruit Stars

Remember that centerpiece! Use it as part of your meal. Your kids will get a kick out of these star shaped watermelons! It’s nutritious and has plenty of pizzazz!

All American Apple Pie Pancakes

Now, if you have some extra time, here’s a fun twist on ordinary pancakes! The apple pie filling can be made the night before or even bought at the store. Just whip up some pancakes and top with your favorite apple pie filling and some whipped cream. YUM!

Here is a great pancake recipe I got a few years back from my friend Cally!!! You need to try these because they are the best…fluffy and moist!

1 cup flour

1 tbsp sugar

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 egg

3/4 cups milk

1/4 cup oil

Mix all dry ingredients and stir in wet ingredients. Your batter is ready!
