A Nautical Setting
Have fun setting the table as if you were out to sea. My father and hubby are not into ‘over the top decor’ as much as they are into ‘over the top food!’ So keeping our decor simple and fresh made them feel comfortable and relaxed on their special day!
Fill tin buckets with peanuts (Try seasoned peanut shells).
Use brown paper bags to cut out place mats.
For table wear, use baskets for fun!
Fill glass vases with sea shells and sand.
Put out some outdoor candles such as tiki lights or string lights!

Cheddar Bay Biscuits
We love Red Lobster’s Cheddar Bay Biscuits and a few years back I found a great copy cat recipe!
Combine 2 cups Bisquick mix, 2/3 cup milk and 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese. Beat until smooth.
Drop spoonfuls of mixture(about a 1/3 cup each, you can decide how big you want your biscuits) onto a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees for 8 – 10 minutes.
Meanwhile combine 1/4 cup melted butter and 1/2 tsp garlic powder. Mix well. Pour over baked hot biscuits. Sprinkle with parsley flakes.

8 cups of shredded cabbage(about 1 small head)
1/4 cup shredded carrots
2 tsp minced onion
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tbl white vinegar
1/8 tsp pepper
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup mayo
1/4 cup buttermilk
2 1/2 tbl lemon juice
Pour over cabbage and carrots and toss to coat well. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
Ice Cold Sweetened Mint Tea
I started an herb garden and to my surprise they are growing fantastic. In fact my mint plant is out of control. So I found a great way to put those fragrant leaves to good use! My husband loves a nice cold glass of sweetened tea, so why not treat him to a refreshing homemade minty peach tea right from our garden! Here’s what I did.
I steeped 6 – 8 freshly picked mint leaves (depending on size) in 2 1/2 cups boiling water. Boil for 10 – 15 minutes. Pour into a cup, and add 2 tablespoons peach drink (I used the Tropicana brand) or you could also use OJ. Add honey or sugar to taste. It’s that simple. This makes one serving. Serve either hot or cold. We decided to serve it nice and cold, just the way my husband likes it!
Attach white life savers to your glasses. They can also be used for a special refreshing treat later.
Chips Ahoy! Sundae
An over sized chocolate chip cookie served in a skillet, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, drizzled with hot fudge, and finished off with a dollop of whipped cream! We call this a Skookie. If you haven’t heard about these yummy treats, then check them out! We had this for a dessert a few years back, and my husband enjoyed it so much! A few years later, I saw them at a retail store and surprised him with one for Father’s Day! You can even use your cast iron skillets to make personal pizzas and more!
